Sauna ceiling

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS

Information about the sauna roof

The exterior sauna roof is constructed from 22 mm thick tongue-and-groove timber on well-dimensioned roof trusses. It is then coated with the best possible roofing felt in two layers, approved for low-slope roofs. The upper felt is sealed using propane gas and is a well-proven waterproofing layer guaranteed to remain watertight for many years.

Durable sauna ceiling

It is adapted for the Nordic climate and can handle rain, snow, cold and wind without any problems. It is flexible and has high joint strength even at low temperatures, and can therefore accommodate large movements in the substrate. Not only is this roofing material of good quality, but it also has a subtly beautiful surface. In cases where you choose to buy a sauna with a roof terrace, pressure-impregnated timber will be laid on top of these waterproofing layers.

Some customers wish to equip their sauna cabin or sauna raft with a tin roof. This is possible and can be done with white, black, or aluzinc coloured standing seam roofing. Sauna buildings are low and therefore the roof is often more visible than on other buildings. Especially with sauna rafts, these are often viewed from above as they are situated on the water. The sauna roof is uninsulated in its basic design. This works well if the sauna is mainly used during the summer months.

Insulated ceiling

However, if you plan to use the sauna raft or sauna cabin a lot during wintertime or wish to have built-in lighting, an insulated ceiling could be an option. In this case, the roof is insulated, and you can then choose which type of sauna panel you want for the ceiling. The options are the same as for the benches. You can either choose light aspen, brown heat-treated aspen, or a treated spruce panel. If you choose treated spruce panel, this can be dyed white, grey, or black with a special sauna wax. As always, you decide how you want your sauna. But don't be overwhelmed by the choices; contact us, and we'll guide you to a solution that suits you. Contact us.
